BERNIE -- Aliene Orr, 92, died Dec. 6, 2007, at her home.
Born Sept. 27, 1915, at Steele, to the late Ausie Franklin and Nora Pierce Bird, she was a "Rosie Riveter" during World War II, working on ships. She had worked for 23 years at AL Hester Meat Packing Company formerly of Bernie. A homemaker, she was a member of the Bernie Church of the Nazarene since 1961.
Survivors include: two sons, Everett L. Orr Jr. of Bernie and Franklin D. Orr of Lumberton, Texas; two daughters, Melba Joyce Norton of Hilton, N.Y., and Norma Jean Lowery of Bernie; two sisters, Jo Alice Orr of Marble Hill and Ruby Welch of Huntington, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until time of srevices at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. The Revs. John Humbert and Don Wells will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
