NEW MADRID - Police are searching for clues in a series of burglaries at local businesses.
An employee from Finley Carwash, located on Highway 61, notified police on Friday the business had been broken into and a large amount of quarters taken from the change machine.
The Eagles Club, located near the carwash, also was found burglarized Friday. A large amount of quarters was reported missing.
An employee of Wagley's Auto Sales reported a vehicle missing from the car lot on Friday. Entry was gained to the office and an undetermined amount of tools were missing, according to the police.
Officers later located the vehicle on Saturday at the rest area off Interstate 55, south of New Madrid.
Also early Friday, someone attempted to break-into Rosies Bar and Restaurant. At the scene officers found wires torn from the alarm system and apparently someone attempted to enter the building from a back window. No entry was gained into the business.
Anyone with information regarding the crimes is asked to contact the New Madrid Police Department at 748-5901 or the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department at 573-748-2516.
