Marjorie DeLay
BELL CITY - Marjorie Louise Smith DeLay, 86, departed this life for her heavenly home May 26, 2004.
Marjorie was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Jackson, daughter of Hattie A. and John W. Smith.
She is survived by her beloved spouse and caretaker, James W. DeLay of Bell City; one son, Darrell J. DeLay of Advance; three daughters, Avis Holloway and husband Wally of Springfield, Peggy Beck and husband Joe of Okeechobee, Fla., and Diane Frank and husband Chaunce of Ozark. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She came from a family of 10 children and three siblings survive: one sister, June Cato of Overland; and two brothers, Kenneth Smith of Independence, Ky., and Vernon Smith of Marble Hill. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends who loved her for her wit and fun-loving ways.
She loved everyone unconditionally and was an example for all. One of her favorite things was spending time with her grandchildren and they loved her dearly.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, George A. Smith, John Nelson Smith, William Guy Smith and Paul D. Smith; and two sisters, Ruby Tisdale and Elsie Seabaugh.
Visitation for friends is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
