Charles Heuring
NEW HAMBURG - Charles John Heuring, 84, died at 3:08 p.m. June 3, 2004, at his family farm.
Born Feb. 19, 1920, in Kelso, son of the late Lawrence and Clara Gosche Heuring, he retired as a self-employed farmer and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and St. Joseph Sodality, he was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4311 in Oran and member and past president of the North Scott County Association of Retarded Citizens.
On Oct. 26, 1946, he married Lucille J. Westrich who preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 1991.
Survivors include: five sons, Norman J. Heuring and Dennis Heuring of New Hamburg, Lawrence "Larry" Heuring of Kelso, Gerald L. Heuring of Buena Vista, Tenn., and Charles M. Heuring of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Dorothy M. Deason of New Hamburg; two brothers, Elmer Heuring of Kelso and Joe Heuring of New Hamburg; one sister, Lorena Beussink of New Hamburg; and 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One brother and one grandson also preceded him in death.
Visitation begins at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church where parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. will be followed with Knights of Columbus prayers at 6:45 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating.
Full graveside military rites will be conducted at the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in New Hamburg.
