Sikeston resident is arrested on rape charge

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Department of Public Safety and Missouri Division of Family Services investigated allegations of statutory rape, which reportedly occurred in a Collins Street residence.

During the investigation, conducted Monday, Joseph Edward Hood, 46, of Sikeston, admitted to having sexual intercourse with his fiancee's underage daughter on several occasions. Charged by the Scott County Prosecutor's Office with four counts of statutory rape, bond for Hood is set at $150,000.

The victim told law enforcement officials that she was 16 years old at the time the incidents occurred.
