Charles Hayes
NEW MADRID - Charles Rudolph Hayes, 72, died Oct. 1, 2002, at his home.
Born Jan. 20, 1930, in Kewanee, son of the late Mitchell R. and Lela Gentry Hayes, he was a river boat captain for many years.
In July 1955, in Tunica, Miss., he married Iris Chanbliss and she preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Calvin Hayes and Henry Hayes; and one grandson, Joseph P. Grobmyer.
Survivors include: one son, Charles Douglas Robin Hayes of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Debra and Pete Grobmyer of New Madrid and Holly R. Hayes of St. Louis; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. David Craig officiating.
Burial follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
