SIKESTON -- Billie M. "Nana" Burch, 88, died Oct. 4, 2002, at her residence.

Born Oct. 8, 1913, in Lanty, Ark., daughter of the late William Usher and Lillie Etta Hall Montgomery, she was active in the family business, Burch Brothers Garage in Matthews and later for Burch Food Service until her retirement. She had served as a volunteer at the Missouri Delta Medical Center for 18 years. A recipient of the Bell Telephone Co. Volunteer of the Year Award and the Business and Professional Women's Club recipient of the Woman of the Year Award, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.

On Dec. 8, 1934, she married Ardie Morgan Burch who preceded her in death on April 8, 1968.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Suzanne Burch of Sikeston; one stepson, Harold Burch of Sikeston; two sisters, Ruth Hudson of Austin, Texas, and Maxine Romines of Matthews; one grandson and his wife, Steven and Tammy Burch of Sikeston; one granddaughter and her husband, Becky and Rob Newman of Sikeston; one stepgranddaughter, Rebecca Reeves of Sikeston; and three great-grandsons, Justin Newman, Austin Newman and David Morgan Burch of Sikeston. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. Montgomery and Sharkey Montgomery; two sisters, Katie Rhoades and Ora Lee Hardin; and one stepson, Cecil Burch.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Sandra Schaller, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Justin Newman, Matt Romines, John Romines, Tommy Romines, Joe Mooney and Jim Robison.
