Vernita Bles
KELSO -- Vernita Marie Bles, 81, died at 8 p.m. Oct. 3, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Aug. 20, 1921, at Kelso, daughter of the late John William and Clara Mary Seyer Compass, she was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, St. Ann's Sodality and the Quilting Circle at St. Augustine.
On April 30, 1946, at Kelso, she married George Sylvester Bles who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Francis Bles of Kelso and Dennis Bles of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Mary Ann Ostendorf of Cape Girardeau and Jane Rumping of Festus; one sister Emma Scherer of Kelso; and 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and one grandchild.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus service beginning at 5:45 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery at Kelso.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Bles, Dan Bles, Jason Bles, Jordan Bles, Mark Ostendorf and Justin Rumping.
