Jimmy Miller
WATERPROOF, La. - Jimmy Miller, 93, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died at 9 a.m. Aug. 1, 2002, at the Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.
Born Aug. 21, 1908, in Warren, Ark., son of the late Jim and Laura Johnson Miller, he was engaged in farming in Mississippi County. He was a landowner and farmer in Ferriday, where he was a member of the First Church of God.
In February 1930, he married Birtha Johnson Miller who preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2001.
Survivors include: four sons, Raymond Miller and M.L. Miller of Waterproof and George Miller and Sam P. Miller of East Prairie, Mo.; three daughters, Betty Sue Wilson of Jackson, Miss., Mary Ruth Carpenter of Brandon, Miss., and Patty Lou Vandeven of St. Joseph; one brother, Johnny Miller of Des Arc, Mo.; two sisters, Cleopus Manaker of Oran, Mo., and Vashti Arlington of East Prairie; and 17 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Needhum Miller and Hollis Miller; and two brothers and one sister.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. Larry Smith and Rob Kespelher will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
