Gene Williams
DEXTER - Lawrence E. "Gene" Williams, 69, died Aug. 1, 2002, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center.
Born Jan. 13, 1933, in Advance, son of the late Lawrence Dave and Eula Smith Williams, he lived in Advance and St. Louis for many years before moving to Dexter in 1982. A U.S. Navy veteran and member of the Masonic Lodge in Dexter, he was a supervisor for Combustion Engineering in St. Louis before retiring.
On May 22, 1954, in St. Louis, he married Frankie Prichard who preceded him in death on June 1, 2002.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Kristi Williams of Dexter and Steve and Diane Williams of Florissant; five sisters, Georgia Robins of Sullivan, Betty Nettler of Advance, Lois Arsta of Columbia, Reta VanMatre of Dexter and Sandra Smith of Clarkton; and three grandsons.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, James Williams and Johnny Williams; and one sister, Anna Robins.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fred Leist of Dexter, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
