Red Wells
MORLEY - Owen Dudley "Red" Wells Jr., 76, died at 2:56 a.m. Aug. 1, 2002, at his home.
Born Aug. 6, 1925, in Benton, son of the late Owen Dudley and Lavinia Jane Eaves Wells, he was a self-employed farmer and worked for Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau. He was a seaman first class V6 with the U.S. Navy in World War II.
On Jan. 29, 1947, at Morley, he married Ruth Jean Smith who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Owen Dudley Wells III of St. Peters; three daughters, Carolyn K. Wells and Sherilyn D. Burger of Arlington, Texas, and Marilyn J. Tuey of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Opal Harris of Benton and Rose Marie Bryan of Murray, Ky.; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One sister preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.
Graveside services will be conducted at noon Saturday at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Morley with Delbert Phillips officiating.
