SUN VALLEY, Calif. -- Alice Frances Schuchart Howard, 91, formerly of Morehouse, Mo., died Feb. 11, 2008, at her daughter's home. Born Jan. 31, 1917, in Union, Mo., to the late R.P. and Wilhelmina Schuchart Sr., she attended schools in Morehouse and completed three years of college at Southeast Missouri State before accepting a job teaching in a one-room school on the original Greer Acres Farms near Sikeston, Mo., in 1939. ...

SUN VALLEY, Calif. -- Alice Frances Schuchart Howard, 91, formerly of Morehouse, Mo., died Feb. 11, 2008, at her daughter's home.

Born Jan. 31, 1917, in Union, Mo., to the late R.P. and Wilhelmina Schuchart Sr., she attended schools in Morehouse and completed three years of college at Southeast Missouri State before accepting a job teaching in a one-room school on the original Greer Acres Farms near Sikeston, Mo., in 1939. She and her husband moved to Los Angeles and she worked for several years for a food supermarket.

On Sept.16, 1940, she married David Kenneth Howard who preceded her in death on May 6, 2004.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, John Henry Schuchart, S.R. "Wes" Schuchart, Emil J. Schuchart Sr., R.P. "Doc" Schuchart Jr. and Robert L. Schuchart; and two sisters, Martha Sachs and Ada Johnson.

Survivors include: one daughter, Janice Sue Howard Baldwin of Shadow Hills; one son, Thomas Kenneth Howard of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Stella Foster of Arlington, Va.; three grandchildren, Christopher and Patrick Howard and Stephanie Bandelow; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Feb. 16 at the Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Mortuary Faith Chapel in Los Angeles.

Graveside services followed in the cemetery.
