Robbery is under investigation

CARUTHERSVILLE -- Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery in Caruthersville.

At about 4:23 a.m. Thursday, Caruthersville Police Department officers responded to 205 W. Haven in reference to a strong-arm robbery, according to a news release provided by Chief Chris Riggs. Officers spoke to a 92-year-old man who said a woman came to his home at about 3:30 a.m., asking to use the bathroom. He let her in, and then she left. She came back with a man, and the 92-year-old said he was assaulted by that man. When a neighbor knocked on the door, the man allegedly stole a handgun and the victim's money before leaving the residence. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

Police officers have a suspect they are searching for and who is believed to be involved in the robbery. Anyone with any information should contact the police department at 333-2121.
