SIKESTON -- A total of 248 swimmers showed up to compete in the Sikeston Invitational on Saturday.
In the end, Kennett walked away with the victory with 1,155 points, followed by the host squad with 641. Jackson took third with 502, followed by Charleston at 349 and Poplar Bluff with 335.
For the Sharks, Morgan Fraser and Gratten Allen both set new team records in the meet in the 50 breast stroke. Fraser's time was 47.76 in the girls 9-10 class, while Allen checked in with a 28.15 in the boys 9-10 division.
Amanda Allen took first in the girls 8 and under 25 breast with a time of 28.11. Mary Kendig also had a big day in the girls 8 and under class, placing first in the 25 free (22.49), 50 free (49.38) and 100 IM (2:06.17).
In the boys 15-18 division, Ben F. Marshall took first in the 100 back (1:11.83), 100 fly (1:09.57), and 200 IM (2:41.59).
In the girls 15-18 class, Kayla Medley took first in the 100 breast (1:33.54) and 50 free (31.94). Megan Nelson won the 15-18 100 back race with a time of 1:31.21. In the girls 13-14 class, Jessica Pierce won the 100 back with a time of 1:43.96.
The girls 15-18 200 medley relay team of Nelson, Medley, Sarah Anglin and Clare Henggeler took first with a time of 2:53.87. The same relay team also won the 200 freestyle race with a time of 2:30.31.
Sikeston's swim team will be back in action on Wednesday, participating in Charleston's relay meet.
