Herbert Haney

EAST PRAIRIE - Herbert Haney, 72, died at 12:23 p.m. Feb. 4, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Dec. 27, 1929, in Commerce, son of the late Oliver and Gladys Hockersmith Haney, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life where he was a farmer until retiring. He was of the Baptist belief.

On June 12, 1953, he married Genevieve Woods who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Steve Haney of Charleston; six brothers, Cecil Haney, Paul Haney, David Haney and Donnie Haney of East Prairie, Dan Haney of Charleston and Ronnie Haney of Barlow, Ky.; two sisters, Doris Lynch of Sikeston and Mary Bell Clayton of North Little Rock, Ark.; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Haney; and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be conducted at the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston with the Rev. Mark Odle, pastor of the Diehlstadt General Baptist Church, officiating.
