Irbie Burch
MATTHEWS - Irbie Arrie Burch, 87, died at 7:10 a.m. July 25, 2002, at Sells Rest Home, following an extended illness.
Born April 22, 1915, in Matthews, son of the late Hiram Turner and Willie Frances Morgan Burch, he lived in Matthews most of his life. He owned and operated Burch's Garage from 1951-62 and was a self-employed farmer. He moved to Ellsinore in 1962 where he raised cattle until retiring in 1988, when he returned to Matthews and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and was a member of the First Christian Church.
On Dec. 21, 1936, in New Madrid, he married Rosalie Mills who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roger Fairchild of Rochester, Ill.; one brother, Oather Glen "Pete" Burch of Matthews; one grandson and his wife, Jay B. and Holly Rubin of Champaign, Ill.; two great-grandsons, Joshua Rubin and Zachary Rubin of Champaign; one great-granddaughter, Madison Rose Rubin of Champaign; and 23 nieces and nephews.
Six brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Caston Countz, pastor of the First Christian Church in Matthews, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Bloyce Burch, Jim Burch, Curtis Burch, Dennis Burch, Bill Burch and Harold Burch.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Bill Lancaster, Larry Gardner, Mac McCormick, Bill Rodgers and Woodrow Beck.
