Mary Amos

ALLENVILLE - Mary Alice Amos, 72, died at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 19, 2002, at her home.

Born Aug. 22, 1929, in East Prairie, daughter of the late Andrew and Essie Vance Spinks, she retired as postmaster for the Dutchtown Post Office and was a member of the Allenville Missionary Baptist Church.

On May 15, 1948, she married Robert Junior Amos who preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1985.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael R. Amos of Lafayette, Colo., and Roger N. Amos of Vanduser; one daughter, Kathy Edwards of Deland, Fla.; one brother, Elbert Spinks of Arnold; and five grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Five brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Phil Thompson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Arbor.
