Girl Howard
CHARLESTON - Girl Lee Howard, 90, died Sept. 24, 2002, at the Charleston Manor.
Born Feb. 22, 1912, in Greenwood, Miss., she lived in Missouri for over 80 years. She was a member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, where she served as an usher and treasurer of the Usher Board. She retired as a cook for Head Start after many years of service.
Survivors include: one son, Sterling Howard of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Mildred Howard of Chicago and Barbara Harris of Aurora, Ill.; two sisters, Elizabeth Thomas of Carbondale, Ill., and Mary Beard of Chicago; and 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. Saturday until service time at 2 p.m. at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Laverne Frazier will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
