SIKESTON - Mrs. Gene Aufdenberg gave a party for her son and some friends Thursday afternoon. Gene Raymond Aufdenberg is eight years old.
SIKESTON - The possibility of an area trade-technical-industrial school became closer to a reality today when 14 superintendents from New Madrid, Stoddard, Mississippi and Scott counties met at the Sikeston Public Schools Board of Education Office to form a planning committee.

CHARLESTON - The Charleston City Council hired Robert Morris to fill the vacant city manager post. He will begin March 1.
SIKESTON - New cable technology available to area residents is being seen as an alternative to the present cable company but there may be problems adapting the service for use inside Sikeston's city limits. Hoping to quell any public misconception that the city is taking sides, City Planner Terry Herndon stated recently the city wants to work with all sides to provide residents with whatever options are available.

JEFFERSON CITY - A delegation from Southeast Missouri recently traveled to Jefferson City to testify on behalf of Senate Bill 525 which would establish the Southeast Missouri Regional Water District. The bill is being sponsored by Sen. Jerry T. Howard (D-Dexter) and Sen. John Dennis (D-Benton).
