Maegerie Ballinger

FESTUS - Maegerie Kathryn Ballinger, 90, formerly of Charleston, died at 9:15 a.m. Oct. 2, 2002, in the Arbor Place Nursing Center in Festus.

Born March 3, 1912, near Charleston, daughter of the late Able and Ora E. Baker, she lived in Charleston most of her life. She had been a teacher with Charleston Public Schools and also taught in the small country schools in Mississippi County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Charleston.

On July 2, 1932, she married Leonard D. Ballinger Sr. who preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1994.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Leonard Daniel and Shirley Ann Swank Ballinger of Arnold; and one grandson, Stephen Daniel Ballinger of Bloomsdale.

Four brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Jack Hamilton will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
