LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The New Hamburg 12-and-under softball team suffered a 1-0 loss to Liberty Recreation in the Babe Ruth World Series on Wednesday in Louisville.

Liberty held New Hamburg to one hit in the game. They plated the winning run in the top of the fifth inning.

Wendy Eftink recorded New Hamburg's only hit on the afternoon.

Sarah Benton took the loss on the mound, throwing five innings and allowing one run off five hits.

Kristain Burger pitched one inning of scoreless relief.

On Tuesday night, New Hamburg blasted Okolona 16-0.

They scored six runs in the first inning and nine in the second inning to blow the game open.

Sarah Benton was the winning pitcher in that game, throwing three innings and allowing just one hit.

Rachel Hendrix had a huge day at the plate, going 3-4 with six RBIs including a home run.

Hannah Glueck and Kristain Burger each had two hits for New Hamburg.

Okolona committed five errors in the game.
