Mary Jane Childress
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Mary Jane Childress, 84, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died at 3 p.m. Aug. 2, 2002, at the Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Milford.
Born Feb. 22, 1918, in Mendota, Ill., daughter of the late John Wilard and Yetta Kooken Stokeley, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pensacola, Fla., and had been a member and organist at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston during the 1960s and 1970s. She was also a 50-year member of the Sikeston Chapter 137 of the Order of the Eastern Star and had worked in bookkeeping and accounting.
She married James Elmer Childress who preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1970.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Martha McCall.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, John Ross and Margaret Childress of Cincinnati and Joe and Ginny Childress of Sikeston; and three grandchildren, Matt Childress of Apex, N.C., Mark Childress of Cincinnati, and Stephanie Childress of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with the Rev. Fred Leist, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, Mo., officiating.
