Bill Colbert

SIKESTON - William Russell "Bill" Colbert, 82, died June 12, 2002, at his home.

Born Oct. 11, 1919, in Kirkwood, son of the late Raymond Clarence and Lelia Williams Colbert, he graduated from Kirkwood High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston, where he served as an usher for many years. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the 110th Observation Squadron of the National Guard. A member of the Engineers Club of St. Louis, he was a sales representative for the River Cement Company before retiring.

On Oct. 28, 1961, in Sikeston, he married Edna Caul who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Lisa Colbert of Sikeston; and a special friend, the Rev. Dolan Rogers of Sikeston.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Dolan Rogers, pastor of the Sikeston Community Church, will officiate, assisted by Dorothy Gale Gardner.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
