George Alsup
SIKESTON - George Ray Alsup, 59, died at 3:53 p.m. June 12, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Sept. 16, 1942, in Sikeston, son of Annie Johnson Alsup of Bridgeton and the late George C. Alsup, he was a truck driver for Keystone Containers in St. Louis and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. An ordained Baptist minister, Alsup had served as pastor of the Cave Springs Baptist Church in Sullivan, Galilean Baptist Church in Valley Park and Park View Missionary Baptist Church in Arnold. He was currently serving as associate pastor of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston.
On Jan. 14, 1965, in Sikeston, he married Eleanor Allen who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Denise Alsup of Dexter and Terry L. and Diane Alsup of Elk Grove, Calif.; one brother, Jerry Alsup of Troy; one sister, Peggy Shultz of Bell; five grandchildren, Anthony Alsup of Dexter, Megan Alsup, Madison Alsup and Jacob Alsup of Elk Grove and Allen Farmer of Dexter; and one niece, Tammy Hancok of Troy.
One granddaughter, Sara Reynolds, preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Adams of Sikeston and the Rev. Randy Lemons, pastor, officiating.
The Missouri Honors Program will conduct military graveside rites at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Larry Tucker, David Adams, Jim Hovis, Eugene Adams, Billy McIntosh and Roger Ross.
