MATTHEWS - Charles William Moore, 75, died May 4, 2002, at his home.

Born March 18, 1927, in Sikeston, son of the late Lloyd Franklin "Bud" and Audrey Jordan Moore, he was of the Methodist belief. He was a medical sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a teacher with Sikeston Public Schools before retiring.

On Dec. 14, 1948, he married Mary Elizabeth Weiderman who preceded him in death on May 12, 1958. He and Marie Pope were married in January 1959 and she died on Sept. 28, 1984.

Survivors include: one son, William L. "Bill" Moore of Kewanee; one daughter, Barbara Summerlot of East Prairie; two stepsons, Larry Pope of East Prairie and Ronald Pope of Fort Myers, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Charlene Bradham of Alexander, Ark., and Jane Viets of Charleston; three sisters, Mary Daugherty of Sikeston and Betty Williams and Sue Harrell of East Prairie; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. William F. "Bill" Koch, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.
