Arthur Johnson

BERNIE - Arthur Dale Johnson, 80, died May 7, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 14, 1921, at Bernie, son of the late Arthur "Jack" and Evadne Smith Johnson, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired as a quality controller for General Motors in Flint, Mich., and was a member of the American Legion at Malden.

Survivors include: two daughters, Pamela Sue Morgan of Dexter and Deborah Ann Hobgood of Bernie; one sister, Joan Kittel of Bernie; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One infant son, Joseph Dale Johnson, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Susan Marner-Sides will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
