Eugene Bowman

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Eugene Fowler Bowman, 84, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died May 9, 2002, in a Wichita Falls hospital.

He was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Sikeston, son of the late Samuel Schuyler and Ila Fowler Bowman. During World War II, he served with the Eighth Air Force, 13th Combat Wing, 95th Bombardment Group (H), 336th Bombardment Squadron which flew out of Horham Airfield in Suffolk, England. Bowman retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1965 at Sheppard Air Force Base.

His wife, Dorothy Henthorn Bowman, survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol Jean Bowman of Boulder, Colo., Dorothy Ann and Tim Polk and Peggy Lee and Ellis Patterson of Wichita Falls; one brother, Samuel Schuyler Bowman Jr. of Pueblo, Colo.; and nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, William Morrell Bowman in 1984; and one sister, Frances Emogene Bowman Simmons in 1953.

Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Ivor Koch, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating.
