ELLISVILLE - Janice Emerson Edmiston, 92, died at 2:02 p.m. March 11, 2005, at Bethesda Meadow Nursing Home in Ellisville.
Born July 8, 1912, in Morley, daughter of the late Henry Franklin and Ollie Mae Smith Emerson, she was one of the early social workers with the Missouri Division of Family Services for 27 years. She was also affiliated with Social Services in Oklahoma for ten years and then returned to Sikeston and retired in 1978. She was a member of the Morley VFW Auxiliary 5368, Eagles Aerie Auxiliary 3319 of Sikeston, and the Morley General Federated Women's Club. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, having been a member of the Morley Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church in Sikeston and then the Salem Methodist Church of Manchester.
On Sept. 25, 1932, she married Francis Smith Edmiston who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by three brothers, H.F. "Frank" Emerson, Jim Mac Emerson, Joe Emerson; and one sister, Camille May Emerson.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Fawn Kai Edmiston of Ballwin; one granddaughter, Camille Elizabeth Borgmann of Eureka; one great-grandaughter, Emma Michelle Borgmann of Eureka; and one sister-in-law; nieces; nephews;
Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. Saturday until time for a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Harold Norton, of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Cremated remains will be privately interred at the old Morley Cemetery.
