Irene Laughlin

EAST PRAIRIE - Irene M. Laughlin, 92, died at 12:50 p.m. July 28, 2002, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 5, 1910, near East Prairie, daughter of the late George Andrew and Ella Manda Gore Morgan, she was a lifelong resident of Mississippi County. She was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie.

On Dec. 24, 1935, she married Dorsie Wayne Laughlin who preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1993.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Wayne "Pops" Laughlin; and three infant brothers.

Survivors include: one son, J.L. Laughlin of Sturgis, Ky.; one brother, J.W. Morgan of Arlington, Texas; and one grandson, Wayne Leonard Laughlin of Clinton, Ill.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shelby Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. Her son, J.L. Laughlin and Fred Girdwood will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.

Pallbearers will be: Bill Greenwood, Milas Mainord, Martin Lucas, Ronald Carter, Fred Douglas, Bill Munger and A.L. Weaver.
