Tom Staffey

NEW MADRID - Thomas Lee "Tom" Staffey Sr., 64, died July 29, 2002, at his home.

Born June 9, 1938, in New Madrid, son of the late William and Luven Woods Staffey Sr., he was a riverboat tanker man and was of the Baptist belief.

In 1959 he married Velma Bizzell who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters, June Plymate of Newport News, Va., and Ardie Smith of Poplar Bluff; one son, Thomas Staffey Jr. of Doniphan; one brother, William "Junior" Staffey of New Madrid; four sisters, Rachel Robinson of Fairdealing, Shirley Treece and Barbara Keown of New Madrid and Alberta Williams of Alton, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one brother.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Gilbert officiating.
