Roy Gillespie
CHARLESTON - Roy Lee Gillespie, 42, died July 28, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born May 18, 1960, in Charleston, son of Perry and Esther B. Fisher Gillespie of Charleston, he lived in Missouri all his life and graduated in 1978 from Charleston High School. He was employed by the Bunge Corporation in Cairo, Ill., and member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Henson, where he served as treasurer for the Charleston and Wyatt branches.
On Sept. 5, 1992, he married Vicki Smith who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include: one stepson, LeMarcus Smith of the home; one stepdaughter, Venika Smith of Charleston; four brothers, Perry Gillespie Jr. and DeWayne Gillespie of Flint, Mich., and Harold Gillespie and Jimmy Clay of Aurora, Ill.; six sisters, Bitha Mae Tucker and Kasandra Jackson of Flint, Shirlyne Pryor and Theodia Gillespie of Aurora, Nanette Turner of Charleston and Sharon Stiger of Atlanta, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sparks Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Opportunity Church of God in Christ with Elder Steve Betts, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
