Nettie Sloan

EAST PRAIRIE - Nettie Pearl Sloan, 88, died at 7:30 a.m. July 30, 2002, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston.

Born Nov. 17, 1913, in Elvins, daughter of the late Elijah and Stella Lewis Brooks, she retired in 1978 from the Prince Gardner Billfold Factory in St. Louis. She moved to East Prairie in 1988 and was of the Protestant belief.

Survivors include: one son, Donald Ray Sloan of Festus; three grandchildren, Jeff Sloan, Christopher Sloan and Donna Sloan of Festus; and several nieces and nephews, including Stella "Kitty" Presson of Charleston, Donna Oehlert of Imperial and Karen Scurlock of Arnold.

Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Gerald Collier, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
