Josephine Cowell
ST. LOUIS - Josephine Lucille Cowell, 82, died May 4, 2002, at her home.
Born June 29, 1919, in Sikeston, daughter of the late John Hypolite and Lilly Mae Andres Halter, she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On Oct. 24, 1937, in Caruthersville, she married John R. Cowell who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, John R. "Sonny" and Joan Cowell Jr. of Sikeston and Terry Cowell of St. Louis; one daughter, Sharyn K. Cowell of St. Louis; one brother, William J. Halter of Anna, Ill.; one sister, Dorothy Bloomfield of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Louis, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Visitation will continue from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. Bishop George Fuhriman of St. Louis and Bishop Matt Raymond of Sikeston will officiate. Dedication of the grave will be conducted by John P. Sargent of Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Terry Cowell, Jamie Cowell, Allen Ayers, Melissa Cowell, Lindsey Ayers and Jim Ponder.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Greg Cowell, Mandy Winkler, Jason Winkler, Austin Ayers, Connor Cowell, Angie Cowell and Julie Ayers.
