Speakout 10/28

Why is it that no dentists in this area take Medicaid. Many in this area cannot afford to buy private insurance. However if you need dental work, that's just too bad. You can't find anyone around here who will take it. Why?

We had this issue a few months ago. Dr. William Dillon accepts Medicaid and is taking new patients. Call his office at 471-4335.

I agree wholeheartedly with the SpeakOut caller who speaks of the enemies among us, those who lie, cheat and steal. I have to disagree, however, with the criticism of those who put down our President. If Bush doesn't want criticism, then he shouldn't lie and spread untruths to the American people. We all prefer the truth from our leaders, no matter how much it works. You would think Bush would have learned that from the previous administration. The big difference this time is that the lies coming out of the White House now are costing the lives of our children. We should, as Americans, speak up loudly against Bush, his lies and his failed policies.

Thank you, Mike, for your editorial on the offensive language. My 4-year-old great-grandson uttered the "F-word" one day. His brother, who is 6, said, "He said the really, really bad 'F-word.'" If this word is used openly, how confused will children be? Hey, people, use your good common sense. Think before you speak.

What criteria does the editorial department use to determine what is printed? Last week you had a SpeakOut article from a person who berated President Bush as being close to Osama bin Laden. In fact, said Osama bin Laden was better than President Bush. The person said Bush had "lied, lied, lied" and that he stole money and was basically evil incarnate. Not one article came out opposed to that viewpoint. I sent an e-mail to you and was wondering why it wasn't published. I realize your name is "Standard Democrat," but I thought journalists were supposed to be neutral in all matters and were just supposed to report the facts. I didn't realize your motto was "All the news that fits us."
