Homer Evans
PUXICO - Homer F. Evans, 85, died March 20, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 19, 1916, in Fairview, son of the late Fred and Myrtle Swank Evans, he had lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky and St. Louis before moving to Puxico in 1972. A staff sergeant with the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a claims adjuster with the Continental Insurance Company before retiring.
On April 1, 1939, in Hickman, Ky., he married Mona Green who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Dan Combs of Cookeville, Tenn., and Susan and George Jackson of Puxico; and four grandchildren, Brian Fleming and Amy Fleming of Cookeville and Bradley Jackson and Matthew Jackson of Puxico.
One brother, Ferral Champ Evans, preceded him in death.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico will officiate.
Graveside military rites will be conducted at the Fairview Cemetery in Puxico.
