PORTAGEVILLE - Cecil Young, 71, died Jan. 5, 2005, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Born March 6, 1933, in Portageville, son of the late George and Florida Smith Young, he was employed as a butcher.
His wife, Lillie Walker Young, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: four daughters, Juanita Young, Joyce Young and Jacqueline Young of St. Louis and Loretta Young Kimbrough of the Galt, Calif.; three sons, Cecil Young of St. Louis, Cecil Purtty of Sacramento, Calif., and Arthur Purtty of Gary, Ind.; three brothers, George Young Jr. and Neal Young of Portageville and Isaiah Young of Bellview, Ill.; three sisters, Ida Lee Higgs of Malden, Mary Blackwell of Elgin, Ill., and Margaresta Young of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Felicia Fitzgearld; two sisters, Flossie Young and Alberta Young; and one brother, Samuel Young.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. Wednesday until service time at 11 a.m. at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston. Bishop Charlie Green, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Williams Funeral Home of Howardville is in charge of arrangements.
