Melvin Johnson

LILBOURN - Melvin K. "Grasshopper" Johnson, 42, died Oct. 1, 2002, at the Beverly Healthcare Center in New Madrid.

Born July 5, 1960, in Piggott, Ark., he was the son of the late Melvin and Ann Simmons Johnson and was employed as a roofer.

His wife, Tammy Sweat Johnson, survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Brandi Johnson of Florida and Tiffany Johnson, Heather Johnson and Andrea Johnson of Lilbourn; one stepdaughter, Mallory Sweat of Lilbourn; five brothers, Steve Johnson, Paul Johnson, James Weaver and Mark Weaver of Portageville and Glen Johnson of Marston; and four sisters, Pat Carnell of Dexter, Susie Wells of North Carolina, Tammy Walters of Blytheville, Ark., and Susan Buchanan of Portageville.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday.

Burial will follow in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
