COMMERCE - Velma Josephine Walker, 83, died at 10 p.m. Dec. 6, 2004, at the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
Born May 4, 1921, in Tennessee, daughter of the late Thomas and Lula Bom Coble, she owned and operated Velma's Place in Commerce. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventists Church in Cape Girardeau.
On Oct. 30, 1939, she married Robert Fulton Walker who preceded her in death on March 4, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Rex Walker, on May 6, 1992; and one brother and one sister.
Survivors include: one daughter, Kay Workman of Scott City; one brother, George Coble of the state of California; two sisters, Lillian Green of Jackson and Helena Reed of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday with John Howells officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
