EAST PRAIRIE - Annie Mae Worthy, 87, died at 5:05 a.m. Nov. 20, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Nov. 18, 1917, in McNairy County, Tenn., daughter of the late John Henry and Ada Elizabeth Brown Melton, she lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in East Prairie.
On Nov. 25, 1939, she married A.J. Worthy who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1993.
Survivors include: six sons, Harold Worthy of Hickman, Ky., Jerry Worthy of Puxico, Roy Worthy of Thayer, Richard Worthy of Washington, N.C., Roger Worthy of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Larry Worthy of Bertrand; six daughters, Eva Williams of Granite City, Ill., Dorothy Russell of St. Louis, Patsy Conlin of Washington, N.C., Joyce Wallace of Atlanta and Brenda Dosier and Mary Ditto of East Prairie; two brothers, Joe Melton and Johnny Melton of Rock Island, Ill.; three sisters, Mary Sue Riggins and Marie Yielding of East Prairie and Lula Russell of St. Louis; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Shirley Eye and Rebecca Garrett; two sons, Donald Worthy and Roger Wayne Worthy; and three brothers and one sister.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday with Dale Billingsley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
