CANALOU -- Robert Earl "Bobby" Wrather, 59, died at 8:30 a.m. June 20, 2004, at his home on the farm he loved near Canalou.
Born March 24, 1945, in Sikeston, he was the son of Billie Sue Wrather Sharp of Canalou and the late Earlin "Dude" Wrather. A 1964 graduate of Lilbourn High School, he was a retired farmer and construction worker. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Matthews and Eagles Aerie 3319 of Sikeston.
In 1965, he married Mary Frances Adams. They had two children who survive, a son, Tony Wrather and his wife, Stephanie of Sikeston; and daughter, Shelly Mainord and her husband, James Mainord of Lilbourn.
He and Jana Gwinn were married in 1980 and they have two daughters, Stacy Wrather and Ashley Wrather of the home.
Also surviving are his adopted daughter, Cheri and her husband, Alvin Hillis of Sikeston. He leaves behind beloved grandchildren who added a lot of joy and entertainment to his life: Heather Wrather and Hannah Wrather, Troy Kottman, Kaeley Hillis, Alyssa Hillis, Hailey Mainord, Josie Mainord and Heath Mainord. He is also survived by his brother, Rich and his wife, Joanie Wrather of Sikeston; and nephews, Rickie Wrather of Canalou and Ben Wrather of Sikeston.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Edward Wells, pastor of the First Christian Church in Matthews, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Nelson Curtis, Jackie Rodgers, Ben Wrather, James Mainord, Alvin Hillis and Rick Wrather.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Jeff Newberry, Jordan Hahn, James "Monk" Rose, Jack Adams and Randy Porter.
