DEXTER (SMNS) -- A Dexter youth is recovering from a stab wound he received in the early morning hours Saturday.

Sixteen-year-old Seth McBride was stabbed early Saturday morning in his rural Dexter home. Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner did confirm that members of his department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the youth's home.

McBride was transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff where unconfirmed reports state that he underwent surgery. Hefner said that McBride was released from the hospital Sunday.

At the time of the stabbing, McBride's mother was reportedly at work and his father had gone hunting. Hefner is not releasing any other details concerning the stabbing at this time.
