Joel McClendon
CHARLESTON - Joel "Piano Joe" McClendon, 78, died Oct. 10, 2001, at his home, following a brief illness.
Born Feb. 11, 1923, in Arkansas, he lived in Missouri for more than 45 years and was a member of the Opportunity Church of God in Christ.
On May 11, 1978, he married Maggie B. Johnson who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were one stepdaughter, Ethel Dixon Currin; one stepson, Elmer Johnson; and a stepgranddaughter, Dorothy Anderson.
Survivors include: one stepgrandson, Paul Johnson of Hagerstown, Md.; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren, 24 stepgreat-great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Etta Ruth Stockston of Charleston.
Friends may call from noon Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. at the Opportunity Church of God in Christ. Elder Steve Betts, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
