SIKESTON - Miss Carolyn Cobb, 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Cobb of Grayridge, was crowned Cotton Carnival Queen for 1961-62 Saturday afternoon by U.S. Sen. Edward V. Long before a crowd that packed every available inch of space in the Legion Park area at the 17th Annual American Legion Cotton Carnival that ended a most successful four-day stand Saturday night.

CHARLESTON - Mississippi County residents are responding fantastically to a fund drive currently under way which would provide increased emergency care to county residents. Funds collected in the drive would be used to secure a cardiac monitor and defibrillation equipment for the Mississippi County Ambulance Service.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston defense has shown what it can do. Just ask the Bulldogs' first three opponents, New Madrid County Central, Charleston and Jackson. But the defense secondary is virtually untested thus far. That will change when Sikeston (3-0) travels to Dexter (1-3) for a 7:30 p.m. contest Friday.
