Bill Cole
MINER - William Milo "Bill" Cole, 72, died Sept. 16, 2001, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Oct. 31, 1928, in Sikeston, son of the late William Floyd and Eva Lee Cole, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. A retired self-employed farmer, he was a member of Miner Baptist Church, Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 and VFW Post 3174 in Sikeston.
On Aug. 29, 1951, he married Betty Walton who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Terry Cole of Miner; two daughters, Teresa DeWitt of Sikeston and Janet Lashmet of Springfield; two brothers, Jimmy Cole and Howard Cole of Sikeston; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Mitchell Jackson, pastor of Miner Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Dale Gage, Johnny Merrick, Tommy Reynolds, Blair Moran, Donald Holman, James Cowger, Jeff DeWitt and Larry Garrett.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Tommy Marshall, Lloyd Evans, Jerry Masterson, James DeHart, Lynn Ingram, Bennie Marshall and the Miner Baptist Church Men's Senior Class.
