Wilson Watkins

ESSEX - Wilson Watkins, 89, died Sept. 17, 2001, at Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Feb. 22, 1912, in Middleton, Tenn., son of the late James Wesley and Mexi Watkins, he worked for the International Shoe Company in Dexter for 27 years and was a retired farmer. He attended New Hope General Baptist Church near Essex.

On Sept. 2, 1933, he married Dora V. Ellison who preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1993.

Survivors include: one daughter, Billie Ledbetter of Essex; one sister, Imogene Christian of Poplar Bluff; and two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, William Watkins and Cecil Watkins, also preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
