Virginia Wibbenmeyer

SIKESTON - Virginia G. Wibbenmeyer, 79, died at 7 a.m. Sept. 12, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 1, 1922, in Apple Creek, daughter of the late Anton Charles and Bertha Unterreiner Ponder, she had been a cook for Lambert's Cafe and King's Kitchen. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella.

On June 3, 1946, in Apple Creek, she married Rudolph J. Wibbenmeyer who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Martha Wibbenmeyer of Fisher, Ind., and Kenny and Teresa Wibbenmeyer and Rickey and Karan Wibbenmeyer of Sikeston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanie and Rich Wrather and Shirley and Jim McCall of Sikeston; three brothers, Norbert Ponder of Apple Creek, Robert Ponder of St. Ann and Eddie Ponder of Perryville; two sisters, Genevieve Schloss and Toni Schnurbusch of Cape Girardeau; and 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where a prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Unterreiner of Ironton, officiating.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Ben Wrather, Rickey Wrather, Sean Wibbenmeyer, Justin Wibbenmeyer, Bryce Wibbenmeyer, Ronnie Ponder, Todd Ponder and Darin McCall.
