CAPE GIRARDEAU - Irma Joan Bard Murphy, 60, formerly of East Prairie, died at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 11, 2001, at her home, following an extended illness.

Born Feb. 26, 1941, near East Prairie, daughter of the late William Carl and Mary Nell Tyner Bard, she graduated in 1958 from Anniston High School. She was a secretary for the Brown Shoe Company in Charleston and retired in 1997 from Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include: two sons, James Kevin Murphy of Chester, Ill., and Anthony Allen Murphy of Potosi; one daughter, Belinda Gaye Kinzel of Sedgewickville; four sisters, Betty Jackson of Anniston, Joyce Pointer of St. Louis, Sandra Pond of Portland, Ore., and Sharon Dorris of Derby, Kan.; five brothers, Billy Bard of East Prairie, Dennis Bard and Gary Bard of Merrills Inlet, S.C., James "Huck" Bard of Anniston and Harry Bard of Charleston; and two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday with Martin Lucas officiating.

Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
