SIKESTON - Thelma Irene Davis, 81, died Oct. 21, 2001, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

Born Jan. 1, 1920, in Pocahontas, Ark., daughter of the late Rufus Lee and Sarah Ann Shaver Vermilye Sr., she was a member of North Park Church of Christ in Rockford, Ill. She worked in the food service department of Rockford Memorial Hospital for 17 years before retiring.

On Nov. 6, 1939, in Engram, Ark., she married Joe Reginald Davis who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Arnold R. Davis of Sikeston; two brothers, Rufus Lee Vermilye Jr. of Pocahontas and Harold Lloyd Shaver of Sikeston; and one sister, Lois Hubbert of Benton.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday. Johnny Hester, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ, and Pat Hogan, associate minister, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
