Mari Hazel

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Marie Hazel, 86, formerly of Sikeston, died Oct. 12, 2001, at her home.

Born Oct. 8, 1915, at Fornfelt, daughter of the late Henry A. and Bertha Hanschen Voges, she was director of assisting for the SEMO Area Agency on Aging for more than 20 years. A member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, she was a lifetime member of the Exchangette.

On May 12, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, she married Henry Homer Hazel who preceded her in death on May 7, 1977.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mary J. Renne of Jackson and Gail A. Schwartz of Plano, Texas; one sister, Irene Voges of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

One sister also preceded her in death.

Services were conducted Sunday at the Evangelical United Church of Christ with the Rev. James Caughlan officiating.

Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
