Harry Bell

PORTAGEVILLE - Harry M. Bell, 85, died Oct. 18, 2001, at the Portageville Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 7, 1916, in Martin, Tenn., son of the late George Lee and Ora Lee Simmons Bell, he was a member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church.

On Aug. 22, 1938, in Portageville, he married Virginia L. Young who preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1991.

Survivors include: three sons and daughter-in-law, Harry J. Bell of Dexter, Gregory P. Bell of Portageville and John A. and Beth Bell of Belleville, Tenn.; five daughters and sons-in-law, Myrna and Billy Joe Russell and Jaime and Jonathon Lane of Portageville, Lorna and Royce Ellsworth of Bernie, Judith and Charles McLemore of Miner and Mary Beth Ladd and Anne Thompson of Sikeston; one brother, Herchal Bell of Texas; one sister, Nadine Macaodyne of Tennessee; and 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Leah Bell Murphy; one brother, Bobby Bell; and one sister, Dorothy Bell.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Eustachius Catholic Church with the Rev. Henry Grodecki officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
